A BTEC is a work related qualification suitable for a wide range of students. They provide a practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a theoretical background.
Originally BTEC was an organisation — the Business and Technician Education Council — set up in 1983 to nationally validate and accredit high quality, consistent vocational qualifications. In 1996 following a merger of BTEC and the University of London Examinations and Assessment Council (London Examinations) a new company, Edexcel, was born. BTEC remains a brand for work-related qualifications owned and offered only by Edexcel, a Pearson company.
BTEC HNDs and HNCs — The BTEC Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) are level 5 higher education qualifications, widely recognised by universities and professional bodies.
Edexcel's academic and vocational qualifications allow students to progress to university and Higher Education Institution in many countries.
BTEC Higher Nationals are an ideal alternative progression route. There are many examples of student studying their BTEC Higher National locally before entering the second or even final year of a degree in another country, including UK, USA and Australia.

The information provided is given in good faith. It is the professional bodies who will actually decide whether to accept your individual qualifications. If any questions concerning the nature of the exemptions and requirements arise, the body concerned should be contacted.
